As a founder, my mission is to empower deaf individuals, particularly those from minority backgrounds, through improved access to education and social support tools. I believe these resources are crucial for enhancing their quality of life, fostering independence, and ensuring their full participation in society.
My extensive work experience in advising students on career planning and developing their career readiness and job search skills at Gallaudet University’s Career Center, the only Liberal Arts university for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing students in the world, has put me in a position to see the lack of opportunities and need for real world preparation of our graduating students. My experiences placing students and my own life within the Deaf community will benefit NamBi Foundation’s mission and projects.
I was born and raised in Mumbai, India and was mainstreamed in hearing school and universities without any accomodation. Then I moved to USA and became more active in Deaf community and volunteering in Metro South Asian Deaf Association. I completed my Master of Public Administration in Gallaudet University. NamBi Foundation’s vision match with my passion to assist Deaf to be able to stand for themselves.
I support the cause that the nonprofit organization is being formed for. To help the people who have certain disabilities to bring out the best out of them who can make a difference in their lives and lives of others by giving them the right tools.
My father was my role model and was dedicated to his cause as a doctor, in helping people in poverty to receive low cost or free medical care. I hoped to instill the same spirit as my father into NamBi Foundation.
